Fayetteville Academy saddled the Pinecrest boys' soccer team with a 3-0 loss Wednesday night, when many area matches were postponed due to weather.
The match, played in Fayetteville, was called at the end of the first half because of weather.
The home team, now 7-0-1, got the jump on the Patriots for two early goals. It was the first loss of the season for the 2-1 Patriots.
Pinecrest returns to action next Wednesday, meeting Wilmington Hoggard in a match scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The much-anticpated grls' tennis match between Pinecrest and Scotland County was postponed Wednesday afternoon for the second time.
The projected contenders for the Mid-Southeastern Conference title were scheduled to open the season against each other last week before the weather intervened.
The Scots finished first a year ago, handing the second place Patriots its only two conference losses.
The singles matches had just gotten underway on the courts at Pinecrest Wednesday when a shower accompanied by thunder and lightning sent the teams home again.
The two teams will try again next Wednesday at Pinecrest, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Also postponed this week was Tuesday's home match against Hoke County.
